How To Train Your Humans

Just tell me I’m the one. You don’t have to tell your mother, or the whole world, just…just tell me.

We were falling out.
The good days clouded with bad feelings.
You wouldn’t hold my hand anymore, even after I took care of you.
I still cared.
You hurt my feelings, I hurt yours.
I wondered how many tears would fall before this was all over.
Something bad was happening.
I thought we were over.

But then something else happened.
Something I can’t really explain.
After all that talking and communication.
Something clicked with the both of us.
We started talking more, and laughing more.
I knew you always loved me, but now it started to show again.
I praying that this was not just a good phase.
There was always that small fear that this was just temporary.
That we would soon go to how we were before.

But one day, while with friends and family, I looked at you across the room.
Your eyes locked with mine and we both smiled.
You never looked so handsome.
It was then that I got butterflies in my stomach.
The same I got during our first kiss.
The same I got during our first date.
Even after two years, I got still got butterflies.
That’s when I realized that we were going to be okay.
That’s when I realized that despite the hard times, we were going to make it through.
That’s when I realized the most important thing:

That I still loved you.
